Low Back Pain & Sciatica

Low Back Pain & Sciatica
Of the many conditions that can affect your spine and nerves, few are more crippling that ‘Sciatica’.

Sciatica is frequently caused by a pinched nerve in the low back resulting in severe low back pain which extends down into the buttocks, thigh and sometimes also the foot with associated numbness and tingling.

It restricts movement and hampers basic activities making life unbearable for the sufferer.
Furthermore, it can be notoriously difficult to treat, leaving many people suffering for years without lasting relief despite trying various treatments and exercises.

In our experience, there are 3 common reasons why conventional sciatica treatments fail:

Reason #1- Not having a precise diagnosis
The sciatic nerve is not, as many people think, a single nerve, but actually a nerve bundle made up of several nerve roots. These nerve roots come from different parts of the spine and travel down the low back before uniting to form the sciatic nerve. Damage to one or more of these vital nerve roots is often the underlying cause of sciatica, and unless the correct nerve root is identified and addressed, treatment is unlikely to succeed.

Reason #2- Not addressing the root cause of the problem
Many sciatica sufferers are given painkillers and ‘general’ back exercises which don’t address the root cause of their problem. Nerves may be trapped or pinched by misaligned bones, herniated discs, scar tissue and tight muscles. If the tissue responsible is not correctly identified and addressed, then treatment is unlikely to help.

Reason #3- Not treating the Nerve
Even when the dysfunctional area is correctly treated, pain may persist because longstanding trauma can damage nerves causing residual weakness and recurrent pain which are unlikely to resolve unless the nerve is properly rehabilitated.

At The Spine & Nerve Centre, we have over 20 years’ experience with spine and nerve problems and have developed a comprehensive approach to help you get lasting relief from your sciatic pain.

By combining standard neurological and orthopaedic tests with unique functional evaluations, we can accurately identify the nerve root involved in your sciatica and pin point the source of compression or damage. These problems are then addressed by integrating advanced therapies and cutting – edge medical technologies which can help:

  • Realign spinal joints
  • Decompress slipped discs
  • Loosen tight muscles
  • Release scar tissue adhesions
  • Rehabilitate and strengthen dysfunctional nerves

All procedures are natural & gentle, with no twisting, cracking or popping of your joints and no dangerous side effects.
